La Cala of Javea - wheelchair accessible luxury villa in Spain

Luxury wheelchair accessible villa on the outskirts of Javea in the pine covered woodland urbanisation of La Cala, which is close to Cap de la Nao Lighthouse (the most easterly point of mainland Spain). The town of Javea is approximately 1 hours drive from both Alicante and Valencia airports.

The villa is positioned on a large south facing plot with private pool and panoramic views from the pool terrace. It has been constructed to meet wheelchair owners needs and therefore along with other features it is level throughout and has widened doors for easy access. It has an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with family bathroom and 3 bedrooms (master has ensuite with level access shower).

Two of the bedrooms have french doors opening onto the pool terrace with direct access to the kidney shaped pool. Patio table and chairs are positioned on the pool terrace in the naya for relaxing or for "al fresco" dining. There is also the option of the seperate barbecue area which has a table and chairs with a parasol for shade.

The enquiry and booking process for the Villa was very good. The Villa and the grounds were very easily accessed by wheelchairs, it was evident that a wheelchair user was involved. It was a quite position which suited us and is also within easy reach of beaches and shops (by car). There were 6 of us in the party, and found plenty of space both in the villa and round the pool. The complex is not completed yet but is well advanced, when it is completed it will be even better.

We would have no hesitation in going back there again

As a wheelchair dependant person I was delighted with the facilities provided at Villa La Cala. The bathroom arrangements and space provided are ideal for both abled and disabled alike. The easy access in and around the villa made it enjoyable for all members of the group. The pool area and lower level gardens offer a variety of sun or shade in pleasant surroundings.

Locally, the area has plenty to offer however it is essential to have your own transport to get about. There is a restaurant very close to the entrance of the La Cala urbanisation - a few minutes walk from the villa. Whilst there was no planned wheelchair access as such, the staff were most helpful and assisted with negotiating the high kerbs etc. Food was excellent, not the cheapest place to eat but convenient and recommended.

We all enjoyed our stay and would certainly look forward to a return visit.
